In a State Council executive meeting on May 31st presided by Premier Wen Jiabao, "a number of observations of State Council on the reform and development of the insurance industry" was discussed and approved in principle. The meeting held that despite remarkable development for the past decades, China's insurance industry has not yet matched the role it is supposed to be in the society infrastructure. The meeting proposed that reform and development should be strengthened in insurance services, insurers management, supervision, regulations and so on.
This meeting, as observed by analysts, signals that Chinese government will push forward the development of China's insurance market with more concrete policies. As a matter of fact, the Statute of Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance, which is a regulatory statute over China's first compulsory liability insurance, will be enforced in July 1st. Now the market is expecting more from the top leaders of Chinese government. |
